Acolytes Needed!!
Are your kids interested in learning more about becoming an Acolyte? Third graders and older are invited to learn more about what it means to be an Acolyte in the church.
November 22nd at 10 am, there will be an Acolyte Social for training.
Autumn and Advent Men’s Bible Study
Members of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew are excited to present a men’s Bible study on the theme “Men at Work.” This is a great chance to examine how we can apply lessons from the Bible to our modern life in a non-intimidating, informal environment with other guys. There is no pre-reading and no homework…just show up with an open mind! We follow the Serendipity format, which includes small talk at the beginning, discussion of a scripture passage, and a closing prayer.
We will meet in the church library from 7:30 to ~9:00pm on the following Thursdays: Nov 19, Dec 3, 10, 17
Please contact Rob Deitcher ([email protected]) with questions. Letting Rob know if you plan to attend will also help ensure there are enough handouts and snacks!
Lord’s Pantry Christmas Adoption Program
Once again, St. James Church will “adopt” families this holiday season through the Lord’s Pantry. This year, we will provide gifts for two families in need. If you are interested in participating, gift sign-up sheets will be available during coffee hour beginning Sunday, 11/1 through Sunday, 11/15. All unwrapped and tagged gifts should be returned to coffee hour on either Sunday, 11/22 or Sunday, 11/29. Any questions, please contact Christa Tyner at c[email protected]. Thank you for your past and future generosity!
We have asked before and We are asking again
We need your family photo for the membership data base and the online directory! With Father John joining us sometime in December and it would be really nice and helpful to have our membership database as up to date as possible and to have as many current family photos as possible. Do we have your family photo? Is it current or really outdated? Take a picture, take a selfie with your smart phone, or dig through your vacation pictures. Email your photo to the parish office. Electronic copies are the best. Don’t have a camera? Let the office know and we will arrange for someone to take your picture on a Sunday morning. Also, be on the look out for an email reminder from the parish office requesting a photo with the subject line “We’re missing your photo”. It might go to your spam folder.
NAME TAGS! Beginning this Sunday, we will be asking everyone to wear name tags at each service.
I may know you and you may know me, but you may not know the name of the person sitting in the pew behind you. Our new rector will not know the name of anyone, so lets get in the habit of wearing name tags on Sunday to help Father John and the person sitting in the pew behind you know your name.
