Sweet Life Giant Pops

07/25/2020 by Christine Deitcher

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” – Psalm 34:8

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy a cold, sweet treat, like an ice cream cone or a popsicle. But desserts aren’t the only sweet to refresh us during the season. We can also look around at all the wonderful things summer has to show us to remember all the sweet things the Lord has done for us. The Bible teaches us over and over that there’s nothing sweeter than knowing the Lord. Basking in the love of God is just as warming to the soul as basking in the summer sun is to our bodies.

Here’s a simple craft to remind you of all the sweet things Jesus and his heavenly Father have done for us. Be as creative as you like with your popsicles. You can even make a whole bunch and string them together to make a festive summer garland!

Materials:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Card stock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Stickers or anything colorful
  • Hole punch (optional)

Directions:

Use your creativity to decorate using the supplies gathered. To get started, round up colored card stock in bright summery colors, glue the stick to the back of the popsicle shapes.

About Saint James

There are a number of Saint Jameses in the New Testament – Saint James the brother of Jesus (‘St. James the Just’), Saint James the son of Zebedee (‘St. James the Great’) and Saint James the son of Alphaeus (‘St. James the Less’). The shells that adorn the outside of the parish hall (a symbol of St. James the Great) suggest that our parish is named for this St. James.
