St. James’ participated in Downingtown’s Christmas Parade again in 2018. It has become an annual tradition for our church. Children rode on the float, older youth and parents walked the route along with the float, and more parishioners watched from the front lawn of the church on E Lancaster Ave. Carolers were singing out front and the Outreach Committee handed out hot chocolate and cookies.

There are a number of Saint Jameses in the New Testament – Saint James the brother of Jesus (‘St. James the Just’), Saint James the son of Zebedee (‘St. James the Great’) and Saint James the son of Alphaeus (‘St. James the Less’). The shells that adorn the outside of the parish hall (a symbol of St. James the Great) suggest that our parish is named for this St. James.
