Readings and stuff for Sunday (Sep 19)

09/16/2010 by Luann McIlvaine

Hi everyone.   This Sunday is "Kick-Off Sunday" (it's also the Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost).  That means that we are "kicking-off" two things: The new "program year" (the church's equivalent to a new "school year". The resumption of our three-service format. At our annual picnic this year we are introducing in a more formal way the capital campaign fund-drive, whereby we hope to raise money to make minor but very important … [Read more...]

Capital Campaign Prayer

09/08/2010 by Luann McIlvaine

Heavenly Father, help us remember that our building is not the Church; We, the people of God, are the Church. Our building … Is the sacred place in which we gather: • To praise God’s name; • To ask God’s forgiveness; • To know God’s healing power; • To hear God’s life-giving word; and • To share our lives in God’s community of saints. Now guide our vision and order our work, as we offer our time, talent and treasure to Your service; and help us bring to perfection what we begin in … [Read more...]

About Saint James

There are a number of Saint Jameses in the New Testament – Saint James the brother of Jesus (‘St. James the Just’), Saint James the son of Zebedee (‘St. James the Great’) and Saint James the son of Alphaeus (‘St. James the Less’). The shells that adorn the outside of the parish hall (a symbol of St. James the Great) suggest that our parish is named for this St. James.
