Bartholomew Hall was a busy place on December 4th. Thanks to a generous donation from the Chesapeake Allegro Chapter #63 Motorhome Club, the Troop Care Package Committee was able to pack 32 boxes for the Christmas mailing to those in military service. Parishioners graciously volunteered to mail them so they would be received in time for the Holidays.
The donation is part of an ongoing Chesapeake Allegro Club Program whereby Wagonmasters can designate a “charity of choice” for Club members to donate “goods in kind”. Karen and Ron Meacham chose the St. James’ Troop Care Package Outreach and donations were collected in November.
This St. James’ Church outreach program was started several years ago and is now headed by Tony and Jeannie Carroll. There are currently 7 committee members that assist and since the program inception they have mailed out close to 400 packages to military personnel in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Thanks to all that participated in this wonderful Outreach Program.
