How Does the Church Work?

02/22/2020 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

FREE
St James Church in the snow

Ever wondered how St. James’ operates? Come to this event where parishioner Dick McConnell will discuss the inner workings of the church.

If you have ever wondered how Episcopal churches work, and especially how St. James’ Church works, Dick McConnell will lead a discussion thereon Saturday, February 22nd at 10:30 a.m. in Bartholomew Hall. We will look into the history of the church, both as an organization and as a building, and discuss:

Who owns the church (and how did that happen)? What part does the church play in the worldwide Anglican Communion? What about in the national church? What is the role of the bishop? How does the church get funded? Where does the money go? Who runs the church on a day-to-day basis? What is the relationship of the church to the St. James’ Thrift Shop? How about the St. James Preschool?

If you are new to the church, or have ever considered taking a larger part in the life of St. James’ (but were unsure you had the necessary knowledge); or if you have just been curious about why something at St. James’ is the way it is, here’s your chance to find out more.

Coffee and donuts will be provided so please let the office know you will attend.
