This is what the Lord says, He who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar – the Lord Almighty is His name. – Jeremiah 31:35
As we all get a chance to get outside a little more and enjoy the world around us, try to take a moment and ask your kids, “Who made all this? Who made the trees and the animals and the sun to shine brightly?” Kids can answer, “God did!” There is so much to enjoy in the great outdoors. Kids can use this activity to turn some of their favorite parts of nature into a charming suncatcher. Bonus: they’ll even get to use a little bit of that nature for the craft!
Materials:
- Thin plastic containers, such as those used for berries or muffins Permanent markers
- String
- Stick or twig
- Scissors
- Hole punch (optional)
Directions:
- Clean and dry your plastic containers.
- Cut the containers into desired shapes ensuring a smooth, flat surface.
- Kids can draw/trace pictures of their favorite parts of nature (i.e., flowers, trees, lakes) on the shapes.
- When finished, use a hole punch or scissors to add a hole at the top. Use string to tie the pictures onto the stick to make a mobile.
- Add a loop of string at the top to hang your lovely creation!
